Music from the Movies

Naomi Kennedy, who is best known for presenting the Sunday Morning Breakfast Show on Radio Cornwall, will be out late on Saturday 22 nd November when she will don an evening dress to host the Rotary Club of Bodmin's Music from the Movies concert in the Public Rooms, Bodmin. The concert starts at 7.30.p.m. .

Popular themes from many well known films, ranging from James Bond to Austin Powers and from Gone with the Wind to Sister Act, will be performed by the St Austell Town Band, winners of this years West of England Bandsmens Festival at Bugle, and all of the profits from the evening will go to deserving causes in Bodmin.

Naomi, who usually presents programmes on Faith and Ethics, jumped at the opportunity to front the concert. She comes from St Austell and has played with the band in the past. She is aware of the good work done by Rotary and was delighted to host an event for charity.

It is possible that Naomi will perform her party piece on the night and, if she does, that will not be the only surprise. The band's conductor, Aaron Harvey, promises plenty more but is keeping them a closely guarded secret. All he will say is that the band is going to have fun and so will the audience.

Organiser, Rotarian Allan Foad is delighted with the way that the concert has come together and looks forward to presenting a special evening. He says that “securing Naomi to host the show is a terrific bonus but the band is also working very hard to show us something completely different”.

On the night, members of the band will be discarding their usual uniforms in favour of evening dress and members of the audience are invited to come dressed as film stars. But Allan hastens to add that “everyone will be welcome no matter how they are dressed”.

Tickets cost £7.50 in advance or £9 at the door and are on sale from Mid Cornwall Brokers or Bricknells Stationers in Fore Street , Bodmin, or from the St Austell Band Club in East Hill, St. Austell. For all enquiries, telephone 01208 76824 or 01726 72483.
