New Paul Harris Fellow - Bodmin Rotarian Ivor Whiting

Paul Harris founded the Rotary movement in 1905 and there are now 1.2 million members worldwide. On Paul Harris's death an award scheme was set up in his name to recognise meritorious service in keeping with Rotary's ideals, the 'Paul Harris Fellowship' and the first of these was awarded in 1957.

Paul Harris Fellows include HRH Princess Royal, Sir George Martin for his work in the Princes Trust, Margaret Thatcher, Luciano Pavarotti, and many others recognised for their contributions to charity, world peace, and the ideals of Rotary.

Rotary President Steve Winston said, “Ivor Whiting has made an outstanding contribution to Rotary International over forty years. Ivor is a good friend of Bodmin, a great Rotarian, and a good friend to many in the County.”

Before this evening, only one member of the Rotary Club of Bodmin has been the recipient of this honour. Owie Jewell received a Paul Harris Fellowship for his outstanding contribution to Rotary
